Sleeve hydraulic coupling
1. Introduction
Hydraulic coupling is used for the connection between main propulsion shaft and intermediate shaft, gearbox output flange, main engine output flange and so on. It is made up of inner sleeve, outer sleeve, sealing ring, piston, pressure ring (protective cover), bolts and so on. The working principle is: use the same taper between the inner and outer sleeve, inject the radial and axial hydraulic oil into outer sleeve at the same time, make it move on the inner sleeve to the designed value, then remove the radial and axial oil pressure, to make the outer sleeve shrink and compress onto the inner sleeve, the inner sleeve compress tightly onto the shaft, through the friction force between each other to transfer torque.
